A few weeks ago, Eli, the son of Clackamas Fire Driver and IAFF Local 1159 member Josh English, experienced a serious medical emergency during a swim class. Thanks to the quick actions of his mom, his coach, and the Molalla Fire District crew, Eli received immediate care that saved his life.

Today, Eli is doing great and has made a full recovery. Eli had the chance to reunite with the Molalla Fire crew who saved his life that day—a special moment made even more meaningful because Eli’s older brother, Parker, recently completed his paramedic internship with that same crew.

The English family, who have long been a big part of our Local 1159 family, shared their deep gratitude for the compassion, professionalism, and skill shown by the Molalla Fire Local 1159 members who stepped up for one of our own.

From all of us at IAFF Local 1159, we are incredibly thankful for the teamwork, and dedication that make moments like this possible.

Many of our own Local 1159 members proudly carry that same dedication to service from the military into the fire service. Your courage, sacrifice, and commitment to others inspire us every day. Thank you to all veterans for protecting our freedom and continuing to serve our communities.

Today we said goodbye and celebrated the incredible 25-year career of Captain Ami Brown.

Captain Brown’s impact goes far beyond her years of service. Ami's been a mentor, leader, and friend to so many throughout the organization. Her contagious laugh, steady leadership, and unwavering dedication have left a mark on every station she’s worked in and every firefighter who’s had the privilege to serve alongside her.

We’ll miss seeing her on shift, hearing her stories and laugh around the kitchen table, and shenanigans around the fire station. When you worked with Ami, you were guaranteed to have a good shift!

Congratulations, Captain Brown, on a well-earned retirement and an outstanding career. You’ll always be part of the 1159 family. 🔥🚒❤️
